Chelaque Estates Homeowners’ Association Open Fire Procedure

Firewise Team

A burn permit is required from the Tennessee Division of Forestry between October 15 to 15 May. Please click on Burn permit button below to obtain a permit.

Thank you to the entire Firewise Team,  and all the neighbors who helped us as a community for taking on chores around their home and throughout the community. Because of the involvement of Chelaque Estates, we are once again in good standings for the 2023 National Firewise USA® Program Certification of Recognition.

Through National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Chelaque became a registered National Firewise USA® Community in 2018.

NFPA's Firewise USA® program teaches people how to adapt to living with wildfire and encourages neighbors to work together to give homeowners a better chance to survive a wildfire and to prevent losses.

There are three areas around our home that can help reduce the wildfire threat within Chelaque Estates. The link below, “Tennessee Fire Adapted Communities Guide” will explain in more detail how this can be done.

 1. Access - This area help emergency responders locate your home in a timely manner.
2. Defensible Space - This pertains to the vegetation around your home.
3. Home and Construction Material - Recommendations for home construction.

Investing volunteer hours in wildfire risk reduction is one of the requirements for maintaining our certification as a Firewise community in good standing. Wildfire reduction hours can be reported to the Firewise team by sending an email with a description of the activity/expense to [email protected]. Please refer to the following link for examples of actions and expenses that can be reported:
